Irrigation Mastery School is in Session!

This post was for announcing the September 2020 session of the Mastering Drip Design course

I feel so happy and fulfilled, and I’m having the time of my life! Why? I’m living my dream. For the first time in my professional life, I’m the headmaster and lead instructor of my very own online school for irrigation.

I’ve been planning on doing online irrigation classes, and have been developing both the platform and the curriculum for about two years. My irrigation design and consulting business has been leaning toward education for about the last 12 years. During that time, I gave over 300 talks, seminars, workshops, trainings. Even though I created the curriculum for a good number of those, for the most part, I was teaching for other people and organizations. I’ve been dreaming that whole time of someday having my own gig.

When COVID-19 hit back in mid-March and shut everything down, I saw my income for the next three months vaporize in the span of about 5 days. I had more teaching gigs lined up than ever before, and I was SO looking forward to them! I had already been working on setting up my online school, but was only working on it in my spare time. But COVID gave me the time and motivation to jam on it and get it up and running.

The First Courses - Drip Design

Back in 2018, I created an irrigation survey where I asked landscape professionals to tell me what they wanted most to learn in the wide subject of irrigation. The overwhelming winner was drip design. 83% of the people surveyed asked for a class on drip design. So I created a free mini-course first, called “Choosing a Drip Method.” Then I created what is becoming my flagship course, and called it “Mastering Drip Design.”

Third Wave of Mastering Drip Design Course

In early June of this year, we gave the drip design course for the first time. We got overwhelmingly positive feedback, so we opened the doors again in late July. Once again, we got tremendous feedback! So now we’re in the registration period for the third wave. The course is built around the seven-step method I developed for designing drip, and have been using in my own irrigation design practice for several years.

There are 10 modules in this course. We drip out the curriculum on selected business days over two-weeks. We hold a Zoom Q&A session at the end of each week. During the two-week period, even though the content of the course is mostly textual content and recorded videos, I’m standing by to answer questions and respond to comments as quickly as possible. This format is great fun for me. The students tend to be landscape professionals who are at or near the top of their game. And they keep me on my toes. Sometimes I feel as though I’m learning as much from them as they are from me.

Come Join Us!

I invite you to join us in this third wave of the course. See what the buzz is all about. Registration is open now, and we close the doors when we get the number of people I feel I can handle. The last two waves sold out within a week. That really showed us how eager people are to learn drip design. The really cool thing about this class is that I’ve provided a workbook that you can use for your projects in the future. The proven method is there. And the course will be there for you as long as it exists … which I’m hoping will be years. I keep hearing from our students that their confidence in drip design has taken a leap that they find surprising and delightful. I’m SO looking forward to seeing the impeccable drip designs people produce. I feel like your success is my success.
